THE COMEDY ENGINE
Life of Nurmi is built around a hilariously chaotic idea: Kirk Nurmi frees a notorious con artist, becomes the most hated man in America, and moves in with his eccentric sister and her teenage daughter. Meanwhile, his ex-client is hopelessly obsessed with Kirk and sees her national disgrace as the perfect opportunity to reinvent herself as a glamorous socialite. Kirk somehow surveys the smoking wreckage of his own life and decides he’s uniquely qualified to help other people.
So naturally, he becomes a life coach.
WHY THIS SHOW WORKS
The premise can change. The characters are the show.
They annoy each other, enable each other, compete for attention, and know exactly how to push the wrong buttons. Whatever situation they land in, their personalities create the comedy. Much of this cast comes from stand-up, radio and live performance, bringing years of real comedy experience into the characters. They know timing, they know reactions, and most importantly, they know how to play off one another.
THE PATH FORWARD
Our goal for Life of Nurmi is to grow the project into a six-episode first season, with the possibility of exploring a feature film along the way. We’re open to where the story and the right creative partnership may lead.
